A Homemaker's Must Have These days ... A Vacuum Cleaner !

Dec.6, 2013 ( Friday ) ~  I'm happy to wake up today knowing my house cleaning would be much easier with the addition of a New "BOSCH" vacuum cleaner priced at SGD$269 I had purchased from Harvey Norman in Bukit Panjang Plaza yesterday.

I had also purchased an extra set of vacuum bags $16 for 4 pcs/ pack  for reserve just in case  and a 9 meter power extension cord $34 , just to make sure i can reach far enough up and down the stairs.

I was happy to have bought them but not happy after carrying the heavy box of it all the way down to basement crpark where I had parked the car. The weight had strained my neck and it hurt last night .Oh nooo... not again !

Anyways, my trip to Bukit Panjang Plaza had been fruitful after acquiring things that I needed for the house. I had enjoyed my small stroll up and about the mall and had taken pics of their Christmas decor too as I go up and down the escalator. Feelin like a tourist snapping some pics from my Samsung Galaxy S smart phone. How I love this phone whole heartedly. It's a piece of gadget I can't do without !

I also had found the Alkaline batteries in NTUC Fairprice  needed to replace the stove's spoiled battery in the ignition compartment. yehheeyyy, the stove is operational again like before. No need for a handheld torch light to lit it up anymore. Ignitions are now perfectly working again , Great , great, great !

So for today, I would be a happy homemaker knowing my tools are just right here in good , perfect working conditons making my life far more easier than ever .

Our new "BOSCH" vacuum cleaner

Oh well, time for me to clean now and do a test run with my new "BOSCH" vacuum cleaner " ... until next time again  !

The Stove Doesn't Light up ... What's Wrong ?

Dec. 5-2013 ~ Kids are off to school and here I go around and around inside the house to do house chores again. Up and down the stairs looking for laundry in all the rooms , wash the dishes from last night, remove the spoiled rice in the rice cooker ( oooppsssss ) and sweep my hair that had fallen all over the place. I hate when my hair falls ...since they are very long, they are so hard to sweep from the floor with the broom coz they stick on the broom all the time. Today I was delighted to see our home allowance had finally arrived in my account so I will now buy a vacuum cleaner at Harvey Norman or Best Denski whoever is near my place and then suck all the dust and dirt and damn hairs that had been decorating the house floors over the last few months. Yuckkk I know ...

and big Yes, I say months coz since we moved in this house in Sept., I never had a vacuum cleaner to clean this 4 storey house . Imagine how troublesome that was when I was dealing with massive space to clean up and quite a number of stairs to go up and down !

The granite floors were sparkling clean after I had mopped them yesterday morning ...

I was thinking maybe the dust , that's the trigger to my hives I'd been suffering from the last few months since I had been living here. I never had hives on my legs and thighs like these before . Only when I came living in this house that I started having them almost everyday and I hate the itch and the bumps on my skin that just suddenly out of nowhere starts appearing on my legs and thighs most of the time. Now even my back had started having bumps as well... oh noooooo !

Hives behind my thighs ...

Reddish itchy bumps called hives ...

This skin condition made me feel horrible for a couple of minutes when the reddish bumps starts to appear on my skin anytime of the day and then after a few hours, they dissappear without a trace like nothing happened at all ! So weird !

I guess, I really need to go out and get the vacuum cleaner, but, I first decided to call the cooking gas delivery and ordered a tank of cooking gas. I had tried to cook  3 days ago but the stove won't light up.

I thought it was the empty gas tank but I could hear some splashes inside the tank as I shake it from side to side  to check if it was empty. There was still a sound of liquid splashing inside although the tank was kind of light weight.

On and off with the hose connection to try if stove would light up, I just gave up in the end concluding" Ok, this tank has to be refilled to get this stove going again ". But today, the delivery guy who arrived within 30 mins after i called them ( geeezzz , he was fast ! )  had  installed the refill tank and the stove still won't bother to light up automatically. Oh dear, we could hear and smell the gas coming out of the burners but they won't light up.

Agghhhhhh.... I  was bothered coz I just paid $36.00  for a new 12.7 kg tank of gas and still I cannot cook ? That's not possible . I told the guy to check the stove and he lit  up the burners with a handheld lighter. Ok, the hand held lighter helped lit  it up. I tried lighting it up as well but I'm not happy with this process of holding the lighter and lit it up. The stove shouldn't be working that way  ...

It lits up but I told him, that can't be the case for the stove coz it has to light up automatically without a handheld lighter. So we both tried to figure out what to do until I showed him a knob for the sparkler.

He unscrewed it and voila.. we found the major cause of the problem why the burners won't lit up.

The Alkaline battery was spoiled. Haayyzzz..... we both laughed at each other when we found the hidden battery inside that compartment under the screw-type knob. Ok .. now is time for me to go out and find an Alkaline battery to replace it  and get the vacuum cleaner.

Bukit Panjang Plaza .. here I come for some shopping !

Bukit Timah Plaza / Plaza Singapura

Dec. 4,2013 ( Wednesday ) ~ I had mopped my floor so early in the morning after kids had gone to school today. I'm so happy and relieved that the ground floor where dining area and living room all the way to the kitchen ended up smelling fresh and sparkling clean . What an early accomplishment for me today before noon, Yippeeeee !

Finishing my house chores early meant that I had time to go out to have my Debit card replaced after my floor cleaning coz DBS staff from Bukit Timah Plaza had mispelled my last name on the card. Not acceptable and very urgent to change to the right name coz I'll be travelling soon. I don't need any hassles with incorrect name you know ... having a different name / spelling would be too troublesome.

Bukit Timah Plaza Christmas Decor 2013

Anyways, from Bukit Timah Plaza which was nicely decorated and I was in the lift going up and down while taking these photos , I told myself as I drove off that its way too early to go home.

Figuring out where else to go, I ended up going to Plaza Singapura in Orchard Rd. where I stuffed myself with " Oyster Omellete" $5.00 + $2.60 Fresh Water Melon Juice from the Kopitiam food court located on the 6th floor.

Fried Oyster Omellete $5.00

I also walked around in every single floor to see what's selling and whats happening around me. I found " BREAD TALK " bakeshop that regulary sells my favorite Yan filled bread called " Only U ". Lucky they have some for me .

I was drooling at their window displays while I was standing in the queue to pay for my Baguette and 2 pcs of Yam filled bread - "Only U " . Truth is, I wanna buy the muffins too coz they looked so fresh and delicious . But I fought the temptation and decided not to coz I already had bought the Baguette and 2 Yam bread and we still have some bread ( Choc Croissant ) sitting by the kitchen table at home to be finished soon anyways. So, Next time then ....

Aside from the bred, I also went home with 3 packs of Chicken Rice takeaway for dinner tonite. Each pack just costs SGD$3.80. 3 Boxes of Chicken rice mereley cost SGS$11.40 .

 Geeeee , What a bargain isn't it !

No cooking dinner at home tonite coz we had rran out of cooking gas ... oooppsssss.
Pretty sure that tomorrow is about Time to order 1 refill tank !
What do you think ?

Have You Been To JEM lately ?

Wella the Pinay Tourist @ Jurong East Mall ( JEM )

Jurong East Mall ( JEM )

Kahit walang pera, sige ang gala ko, ( English version = eventhough i have no money, i still wander around ! ) Takin the chance to see places around me no matter what .
Yesterday, Dec 3 - Tuesday , I went to Jurong East Mall ( Right beside the Jurong East MRT Station ) to drop off Tristan to meet his friends. Since the area was a very new place for me, I decided to navigate the mall.

Nothing so special coz most of the shops were just newly opened proven by the bouquet of flowers by the shop entrances and most shops were not yet well stocked.

Even the food court was not yet fully utilized coz most of the stalls were still being fixed and furnished.

Beef Brisket with seafood balls in this boiling soup was the main ingredient in all the beef dishes served.

~ Beef Hor Fun $6.00 from Chinatown Beef Noodle House ~

Extra Soup $1.00

I'm not a big fan of Beef Hor Fun ( SGD$6.00 + S1.00 Soup + SGD$2.90 Fresh Water Melon Juice ) but I tried it for lunch coz I was so hungry . Beef Hor Fun SGD$6 ... the soup if u get asked if you want one is not free. The soup costs SGD$1 extra.

Hmmmm the verdict was ...eventhough I was starving, I was not able to finish all my food.

Therefore, I'm still not a fan of it ... but at least I tried though.

Home Decor Fanatics... Check This out !

I was visiting Tanglin Mall yesterday coz I had seen an email from " I Wanna Go Home" Home decor shop promoting their items for the holiday season. Out of curiosity to see what they have, I drove there despite of  the bad rainy weather. I didn't mind the rain much at all considering I would be spending most of the time inside the mall anyways.

Tanglin Mall

" I Wanna Go Home " decor shop has been one of my favorite places in this mall. I always love their decorative items, wall art and again I was so jealous to see my favorite home item .. the hanging outdoor egg chair by their front store display ! I have a hanging chair at home in the Philippines. The sight of this egg chair on display made me scream " I wanna Go Home " indeed LOL!
I miss lounging on my hanging chair so much !

~ "I Wanna Go Home " Hanging Egg Chair Display ~

My very owm hanging chair waiting for me in my home in Laguna, Philippines.

I had spent a lot of time looking at all the displays in the store. Geeeezzzz ... How I wish I'm loaded with money so I can buy everythig I like in that shop. O buy the whole shop Lol ...How I wishhhhhh ....Siggghhhhhh .

I was already on my way out of the shop when a familiar voice of a friend of mine Saisuree Jay called my name. I was happy to see her. We have not seen each other for like 3 years so we chatted and we walked around in the shop for a while together. She was there looking for a dining table to buy. I told her I got an idea,  since she was on a mission to find a dining table when I found her,  I suggested thatwe should go together to Dempsey Hill so she can check on some teak wood dining tables . I was sure the shops in Dempsey can offer her more choices and she can have more options. We agreed to go there after  we had a cup of coffee at Starbucks located in the ground floor of the mall. We laughed out loud while we started chatting that a foreign guy was smiling at us. He told us we sure like having a good time bondng together in the cafe. He was absolutely right !

When we were on our way to Dempsey Hill, I accidentally found  another good lady friend Jean Marie who manages CURIO home decor shop in Dempsey standing on the side of the street.

I stopped the car and waved at her to get her attention and check if she had recognized me. Oh yeahhh ... I successfully did. . Again, I'm so happy to see another friend I had not seen for almost 4 years. I had introduced Jean Marie & Saisuree Jay to each other. Saisuree and I did some photo shoot in Jean Marie's shops and .. wow , her items for sale are stunning pieces .. absolutely world class. I was so mesmerized by a lot of items in her shop.
I do propose that you people must go there and take a look !

Here are some items as we had seen in the 1st CURIO shop ...

Sofa Ensemble we found in 1st Curio Shop ( SOLD! )
All decor Items in this photo are still for sale !

Jean Marie ( In White ) was busy dealing with buyers.
I was very tempted to get a MOP in -lay resin Tray i found in her shop selling for SGD$210. I really really love the look of that tray but I don't have the money to buy it now. Again, a big sighhhhhhhhh.... what a miss !

Saisuree and I also went to her 2nd shop just a block away. She and I never stopped from drooling just with sight of the items on display.

The 2nd shop is more on a Conservative, Vintage type of atmosphere decorated with antique leather sofas, Combination Metal / Leather dressers , iron cast chandeliers , vintage items and some old collection of pre-loved items like vintage typewriters & tennis rackets creatively organized on the walls.

I love the way the colors are blending / complementing each other in the showrom. Even the contrasts as well , very eye catching.  I would personally say whoever is the person responsible for putting up all the decors in this shop has an eye for real Art and a real artist bearing the inner value of things in mind. He had recycled a lot of things from crap into unique visuals. Just like these tennis rackets on the wall .

OMG Isn't that a Gorgeous  Work of Art ?

Again I would say .. I was completely captured by this place . So please don't waste your time... go there and have a look for yourself . Your time spent walking around in CURIO would be worth it !
Promise ...
